What is HCG?

hCG is a hormone that is naturally produced during pregnancy. The production of this hormone regulates the metabolism and stimulates fat release into the bloodstream, which is then eliminated by the body. hCG used for medical purposes is synthetically created in labs.

It is not extracted from humans or animals. Most people will lose between 1-2 pounds a day on the hCG diet (but anywhere between ½ and 3 pounds is possible). To optimize weight loss results, you must follow a low-calorie diet. Studies show that the hCG diet promotes weight loss by burning fat tissue rather than lean muscle. It lets the body release the unhealthy stored fat and burn those calories. While you are consuming your required calorie intake, there are thousands of calories that are released from your body fat. As a result, your body burns up the fat much more quickly.

When you begin, the first few days will be the acclimation period. You might experience mild hunger. That is because your body is adjusting to the new metabolic rate. By the second week, you will be able to satisfy yourself with smaller portions (and might even feel as though you over-indulged), thereby reducing the consumption of calories.

The hCG diet has been known to create a natural transition from unhealthy eating habits to healthy ones. People who have undergone this program are much more likely to keep up their newly acquired eating habits and keep the weight off.
