Nose Surgery Rhinoplasty

Nose surgery, also know as rhinoplasty, is done to correct the appearance and proportion of your nose. It may correct breathing problems due to structural abnormalities in the nose.

The shape of your nose may be a result of hereditary traits or an injury or prior surgery.

Rhinoplasty can change the following aspects of your nose: Nose size, in relation to the other facial structures Nose width, at the bridge Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge Nasal tip, that is large or bulbous, drooping, or too upturned Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned Nasal asymmetry and deviation

Surgery of the nose is a good option for you if:

• Your facial growth is complete and you are 13 years of age or older
• You are physically healthy
• You stop smoking
• You have specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance

The rhinoplasty surgery will require anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure that will not require an over-night stay. With most patients, the incisions are made only inside the nose. After the surgery is done, a splint and bandages are applied to preserve the new shape of the nose.
